November 18, 2025 marks the beginning of a new project for a group of vintage computers and retro video game enthusiasts.
The Manitoba Computer & Gaming Museum seeks to educate and inspire new generations of Manitobans by sharing the history and stories of the computer hardware and software that have shaped our lives, whether at home, in the workplace, for students, or for entertainment.
In 2026, we kick off with temporary touring exhibitions featuring our current collection of pre-UI computers, PCs, Macintoshes, and various gaming consoles.
The museum is a non-profit organization managed by a board, and a diverse board of directors that includes historians, computer scientists, educators, curators, and researchers, among others. The museum will offer seasonal exhibitions, classes, lectures, workshops, and fundraising events, providing visitors with hands-on computer experiences. The group is also planning temporary “pop-up” events throughout the province to generate interest and support.
In 2025, a committee was established to focus on the logistical aspects necessary for the successful launch of a physical museum planned for 2027. The primary goals during this first phase include establishing a collaborative partnership with a suitable venue for the first few years and curating an initial display that highlights the valuable items already collected.
Donations have been transforming our mission since before we even opened our doors, and we are excited to keep welcoming your generous contributions!
